Mercado opened in May 2006 at the bottom of Stoke Newington’s popular Church Street. Inspired by the cantinas and colours of Mexico’s vibrant markets (mercados), Mercado is a fun and relaxed cantina bar to compliment the local restaurant scene. Owned by YumYum’s Atique Choudhury the restaurant is managed by Cesar Garibay, originally from Mexico City.
The bar-cantina celebrated its launch with Corona Girls, a BBQ and live Mariachis. Mercado has also hosted a traditional Day of the Dead Party and our cocktail mixologist, Grant Jarvis recently taught musician Neneh Cherry how to mix Margaritas for a new TV show!
